Institutional aggression is referred to as aggression that occurs and becomes the norm in just about any form of establishment. Examples of establishments are educational institutions, offices, hostipal wards, offices, prisons, police makes, military and terrorist teams. Two models that have been recommended to explain IA are the situational model plus the dispositional method (sometimes known as the importational model). The situational model includes many aspects of the institution and these can include the management style, staff features (gender, grow older and experience) perceived and real deprivations and environmental factors such as noise, heat and crowding. This model therefore states that an individual who can be not normally aggressive can be made to respond aggressively because of factors within the institution. Much of the research in the situational unit has been accomplished in prisons and this unit has very much support.
