Students ride-along allows the student to observe the use of discretion and tactics that are used by the police officers whom patrol the communities. A large number of people inaccurately believe that policing is what they will see described in the mass media. We under no circumstances realize that there may be much more to police work then what we consider interesting or even humorous. By watching a patrol officer during a call, I was in a position to gain beneficial insights in to questions with regards to why law enforcement officers stop specific individuals, for what reason some individuals will be taken into custody and some are not, and lastly how the discernment of an official affects how they perform their jobs. I will discuss these kinds of three questions while using 3 separate conditions that took place during my ride-along. According to Schmalleger (2012) strict legal responsibility is a philosophy based on the presumption that causing harm is in itself blameworthy, regardless of the actor's intent. Going out over a ride-along, I meet up with the patrol official; he is around my era and twice my size.
